Everybody loves cookies and one of the best biscuits out there might just be the golden, crumbly and buttery shortbread. The classic shortbread already has an upgrade with the millionaires shortbread which has caramel and chocolate, however, you can still make it different. This pecan chocolate shortbread recipe combines a simple shortbread cookie recipe and adds some extra flavours and texture to the party which you’ll need this weekend.

Pecan chocolate shortbread suggestions

The buttery biscuits are easy to put together and you can add some pecan nuts into the melting chocolate too if you want to. Use a darker chocolate if you feel that it’s your preferred taste too. You can make these cookies with pistachio nuts as well for a different flavour and upgrade them as much with adding a layer of caramel before dipping them in chocolate. These biscuits are great with a cup of tea or coffee with friends and lots of laughs.

Buttery shortbread topped with chocolate and nuts make this variation on the traditional recipe a winner.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups 3 all-purpose flour

  • 1 cup 1 Maizena

  • 1 cup 1 icing sugar

  • 500 g 500 butter (soft)

  • 200 g 200 melting chocolate

  • 150 g 150 crushed pecan nuts

Method

  • Mix all the ingredients together.
  • Make balls the size of a walnut.
  • Place on a greased baking tray, 2 inches apart. With a fork, press gently on each ball and flatten it slightly.
  • Bake for 15 minutes at 160°C.
  • In a double boiler, melt the chocolate
  • Drizzle the chocolate over the cooled biscuits, and sprinkle the nuts over the wet chocolate.
  • Bake for further 5 minutes.
