The real summer is finally here! Sun, warm weather, beach, family and friends are on the menu. Need a cool dessert that will make the holiday vibes even better? It is something that brings back memories of the good times while adding something special each time you grab a bite. Trifle is a world-famous dessert that has roots in many cultures but is well known for being enjoyed in Britain. Our strawberry trifle has layers of delicious fruit, cake, pudding and cream, perfect for the hot holiday season.

There are two main ways to create this delicious strawberry trifle. You can make your own sponge cake if you feel adventurous or buy some ready-made cake and cut it to the right size. Pudding is great out of the box if you have a favourite brand. Just follow the correct instructions when making it. You can even get the kids to help you layer your trifle, making it more family-inclusive. Top with cream and you are ready to serve this delightful dessert.

Ingredients

  • Any ready-made sponge cake (vanilla) or you can make your own.

  • cups Water

  • 1 packet 1 Vanilla Instant Pudding Mix

  • 3 cups 3 Cold milk

  • 5-6 cups 5-6 Fresh strawberries, sliced.

  • 2 tbsp 2 Castor sugar

  • Whipped cream (optional)

Method

  • Make vanilla pudding according to the box instructions. For most brands, you will mix 3 cups of cold milk with the mix. Beat pudding mix and milk with whisk 2 min. The pudding will be soft-set in 5 min.
  • In a medium bowl, sprinkle strawberries with castor sugar.
  • Cut your cake/readymade or freshly baked into small squares.
  • Place half of the cake squares into the bottom of a trifle dish.
  • Top with half of the pudding.
  • Sprinkle half of the strawberries on top of the pudding mixture.
  • Repeat steps.
  • Top with whipped cream. (optional)
