AN INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION FOR A RICHARDS BAY MATHS TEACHER

Mathebula who has more than five years in teaching doesn’t only teach Mathematics, he also has a knack for Physical Science.

The Richards Bay Maths teacher is currently based in Siphumelele Secondary in Mzingazi, outside Richards Bay where he teaches Grade 10 to 12.

WHAT THE AWARD MEANS TO MR MATHEBULA

Making his brief comment after scooping the award, Mathebula said his passion for teaching is what has led him to walk on the global stage.

He said he started his teaching right after finishing matric. He longed to see learners acing Maths and Science, the subjects often regarded as the hardest in high school.

“From there I never looked back as I ended up finding myself enrolling for a Bachelor of Education that I passed with flying colours with no hassles,” Richards Bay Maths teacher recalled.

He said his formal teaching career ensued.

Mathebula said even though he knew he was good at what he does, it never clicked in his mind that he would, this soon, find himself having to accept an international award under his name.

“I am filled with gratitude. The international recognition surely pushes me to continue changing more lives through chalk and a textbook.”

He revealed that the award meant more work for him as he vowed to go out even more to touch more lives.

GREATER INTENTIONS TO IMPROVE MATHS IN THE COUNTRY

To all the learners struggling with Maths and Science, Mathebula said through various platforms, he is at their service.

“Everything falls into place when you do what you love and enjoy. Seeing a learner acing these subjects is the most rewarding feeling. I try by all means to simplify these subjects and make them enjoyable, interesting and easy to study,” said Mathebula.

He added that the award he has won reminds him that anything is possible.

He revealed that his biggest dream is to pen down a bestselling Mathematics book that will simplify the subjects just so he could continue instilling the love for the subjects in learners.
