It Is Written: Those who HOPE in the Lord will renew their strength

“Never will I leave you…Never will I forsake you” YHVH (God). As we close the week, let’s remember – whatever you’re going through, He’s right there with you.

Isaiah 40:31
29 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.
30 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;31 but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.

Some versions of vs 31 say: “But they that WAIT UPON the Lord…”

I love this concept of putting my hope in God and waiting upon Him.

Sometimes, when we go through struggles of various kinds (financial, relational, health etc.), it can feel like there is a shroud of darkness enveloping us, and we can’t seem to see the way forward.  It is almost as if we are blindfolded, left groping in the dark.

What does this concept mean exactly?

How can I put my hope in Him while I am fumbling aimlessly, not knowing what to do next?

Through various trials, I have learned that “hoping in/waiting on God” means to confidently trust that He knows what we need, and to look expectantly to Him for help in every situation.   We become calmly dependent upon Him, with childlike faith and assurance.

Hoping in God is not just “wishful thinking” but a faith-filled decision!

Waiting in this instance does not just mean empty time or space, but actively, yet patiently, keeping our eyes fixed on Him, all the while honouring his character, fully believing that He is both willing and able to strengthen us and to either deliver us from or through the fire – whatever the fiery trial may be.

Are you feeling tired, weary and/or overwhelmed?

God has not planned for you to carry these burdens on your own. He invites us to cast our cares upon Him because He cares for us. He promises us in times like these, that He will uphold us with His righteous right hand, because we are His dearly beloved children….

Hebrews 13:5
“Never will I leave you... Never will I forsake you” …
Matthew 28:20
“And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age”.

The invitation is to trust His sight when we can’t see the way forward – to trust His heart towards you more than you trust yourself (or anything else). Cast aside all worries, cares, hurts, and sorrows, and give your heart to Him in complete surrender.

As you seek Him in these times, He finds a way to bring light into the darkness and whispers words of encouragement, strength, and hope:

You are not alone! Christ Himself is with you – His spirit lives within you. His power and glory shine upon you. Decide to wait on Him.  It’s a choice!  Based on the facts of His word and not on our feelings. Put your hope in Him. Worship Him for who He is, not only for what He does. He will find a way to redeem, restore, heal, and deliver.

Jeremiah 29:11
11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”.

PRAYER

Thank you, Father, that you are so completely trustworthy!

Thank you that you are a good, good Father and I am loved by you.

Thank you that as I lift up my face towards you now, you turn your countenance towards me and give me peace!

I lift up my heart towards you and experience the joy of your embrace.

I lift up my hope in you and declare that you are enough – more than enough!

You are all I need. I praise you God.

Amen
