‘Yizo Yizo’ is coming to Netflix! Here’s what we know

SABC 1’s drama series Yizo Yizo is topping trends after Netflix South Africa revealed that the telenovela would be streamed on its platform.

Netflix South Africa has confirmed the ‘Yizo Yizo’ return on small screens.

With season 1 and 2 premiere set for 21 and 28 April, Mzansi has since weighed into the return of the drama series.

Taking it to Twitter, Netflix South Africa revealed the slated premiere dates for seasons 1 and 2. Brielfy also confirmed the news of the return of the popular SABC drama series.

However, little is known if there is any hope of the drama series getting more airplay on Netflix.

REASONS BEHIND CANCELLATION

The drama series was once dubbed the best screen production ever in South Africa before it was canned in 2004 after three seasons.

The plot and storyline retell the woes of eKasi life and students’ struggles from drug abuse to gangsterism.

Despite its popularity, the drama series was canned. Little is known about the reasons behind its axing.

However, the rumour mill has it that the drama series was canned because it was no longer educational.

The drama series was set in the township of Daveyton and aired from 1999 to 2004. The celebrated drama series was written and directed by Mahlatsi with Angus Gibson.
