23-year-old actor Siyabonga Xaba who left fans of Gomora bawling a few days ago after his character was killed off has revealed the reason he exited the show.

Siyabonga Xaba: ‘I’m going behind the scenes now’

The actor told Daily Sun in an interview:

I’m going behind the scenes now. There’s a project I’m directing and I’ve always wanted to direct. The bug bit me in 2017 when I directed a feature film.

I will definitely be back on screen but I want to focus more on behind the screen for now.

‘GOMORA’ HIGHLIGHTS

Xaba says he loved working with his on-screen mother Katlego Danke who plays the role of Thati.

He also told the publication that he wishes to work with her again because she’s both fun and professional

I’d like to say thank you to everyone who supported me. I’m really grateful for the love I received. This is not the end for me.

Lungelwa Hela, who is the producer of the popular telenovela, described Xaba as a “perfectionist, a director, a writer, and one of the best actors she’s ever worked with in a tweet.

LIFE BEHIND THE LENS

The actor wrote, produced, and directed a film called Carrots which was released in April of this year.

The film stars two of his co-stars from Gomora, namely Siphesihle Ndaba (who plays Mazet) and Ama Qamata who plays his sister Buhle.

Ndaba plays the role of Faye in Carrots while Qamata plays the role of Emily.

Actor Lemogang Tsipa can also be seen in action in Carrots as the character Tony.

He’s also produced and starred in a short film, titled The Influencer, which was released in 2019.

The Influencer was about a “secret” agent-like figure who is addicted to Instagram.
