Fans of #TheRiver1Magic are frustrated with the character of Presley Chweneyagae who plays the role of Cobra Mokoena.

The actor has been playing the lazy, sly, and devious role since season one of the show in 2018 and hasn’t evolved.

He’s currently running a Ponzi scheme with his son Morena.

Where has ‘The River’ spark gone?

According to The River viewers, the show has lost its spark as storylines are merely repeated season after season.

CHARACTERS THAT HAVEN’T GROWN

Cobra

And like all the previous seasons, Cobra is recklessly spending the money of innocent people in Refilwe.

  • Cobra is always looking for a quick way to get money and never plans for the future.
  • He is not the only character that hasn’t developed since season one.

Andile

Andile Dikana (Lunga Mofokeng) has been engaged for close to two seasons now while his father, Zweli Dikana (played by Hlomla Dandala), gets married every season!

  • Andile is Lindiwe Dikana’s (Sindi Dlathu) gay son who is engaged to Njabulo played by Siya Raymond Sepotokele.
  • Mabutho played by Thembinkosi Mthembu is still living in a shack even after he had a lot of money from bombing ATMs at the beginning of the season.

PRESLEY’S RETIREMENT PLANS

The 37-year-old Chweneyagae has told Daily Sun that he plans to retire from the industry at the age of 40.

The award-winning actor told the publication that he plans to abandon the entertainment industry as a whole after another three years of acting.

My message to young actors is for them to remain strong because they’re in a challenging industry. They must always remain calm, disciplined, and focused.

Chuneyagae is best known for his lead role in the gritty Tsotsi which won an Oscar in 2005.

He also walked away with the Outstanding Actor Award at the Black Movie Awards in Los Angeles in 2006.
