Talented TV host and actress Noluthando ‘Nolly Nolz’ Nqayi, who recently joined SABC1 soapie Uzalo as Detective Zola reveals why she often takes breaks in the industry.

NOLLY NOLZ: ‘I DON’T WANT TO BE A TYPECAST’
The actress Noluthando ‘Nolly Nolz’ Nqayi tells True Love that she doesn’t want to be typecast and that joining Uzalo is an opportunity she’s been waiting for.
“I do take time off because when you play a certain role for too long, people tend to typecast you or just put you under one umbrella so the reason why I take a break is because I often want to refresh and then come back with something different, something new and it works for me.”
Nqayi adds that her family watches and loves Uzalo as is their favourite show: “I am so happy to join the cast. I was nervous on my first day, however, the production made it so easy for me. They were so welcoming,” she says.

PLAYING DETECTIVE ZOLA IN ‘UZALO’
The star Noluthando ‘Nolly Nolz’ Nqayi also reveals that her character Detective Zola in Uzalo is feisty, tough, and married to her job.
What she loves about her role is that she gets to experience her serious side because Zola means business.
“In real life, I love laughing and joking too much, so that’s why I am happy to play her because it is something different compared to my everyday life.”
She adds that she doesn’t mind travelling between Johannesburg and Durban because the soapie is produced in KwaMashu, KwaZulu-Natal.
“I didn’t relocate,” she laughs, “I don’t know how long it will take me because it depends on how long the character will be in the show,” she adds.
