‘Nikiwe’: All you need to know about the plot and the trailer of etv’s newest telenovela [watch]

It may seem like etv is taking the term ‘out with the old and in with the new’ to a whole new level. The beloved entertainment channel is now bringing the much anticipated Nikiwe to its viewers.

The show is the brainchild of Parental Advisory Productions which is headed by Lungile Radu and Thomas Gumede. The show is set to follow the life of the Radebe family which is set in the Diepkloof Extension, Pimville, Orlando and Soweto areas and will center around the struggle of a young woman who aims to fight for what is rightfully hers.

The visuals of the show will navigate between studio and location shots which is bound to be a visual spectacle.

The plot of the telenovela

‘Imagine inheriting a fortune and having ultimate power in your hands, only to have it all stripped away by your family. The story revolves around blood, power and betrayal. It tells the tale of what it means to be ”hood-rich”. Nikiwe has led a coveted life of having everything money could buy. However, she hits rock bottom when all this is taken away. She has to toughen up to reclaim what was taken from her. Will Nikiwe repossess her birthright against a family that constantly stabs her in the back?’

The show boasts a stellar cast which includes former The Wife star Lungelo Mpangase in the title role.

Nikiwe is set to debut on 24 April officially taking over the timeslot currently occupied by Durban Gen.
