Awards season has just kicked off, and this week has not one but two fantastic live events for you to enjoy. Millions of fans and artists alike will be gearing up for the biggest night of the year. South Africa’s own Trevor Noah hosts The 63rd Grammy Awards on 1Magic (DStv channel 103). Tune in for this incredible event, hosted digitally for the first time. 

For the young (and young at heart), Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards on DStv channel 305, is the only awards show that honours kid-friendly entertainers. Expect fun family entertainment with loads of green slime!

Everyone’s talking about CBS Presents Oprah with Meghan and Harry, which saw Oprah Winfrey sit down with Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, for an intimate conversation. The interview, which premiered on Monday, was so highly requested by customers that it will be rebroadcast this Saturday, 13 March on M-Net (DStv channel 101) and on the DStv app at 16:00.

Moonchild Sanelly – Woza on MTV (DStv channel 130) is your exclusive VIP pass into the crazy world of musician and fashion guru in the making, Moonchild Sanelly. To keep the show as raw as possible, Moonchild’s very own team will show exclusive content not seen anywhere else.

It’s been a rollercoaster ride of emotions and drama for fans of South Africa’s newest telenovela Legacy, on M-Net (DStv channel 101). We aren’t about to give away any spoilers  – but get ready to celebrate 100 spicy episodes this week. It will be a spectacle like no other.

The M-Net (DStv channel 101) Sunday night blockbuster Hard Kill stars action icon Bruce Willis. In a bid to protect his family, a software developer must become an assassin for some very bad guys. But as we all know, Willis does not take threats very well. 

Also on M-Net (DStv channel 101), Young Rock is the true, wild story of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and his larger-than-life family. From his grandfather’s harrowing experience in a Japanese internment camp during World War II to Dwayne’s rise to stardom, get to know the Johnsons a bit more personally.

Can we predict the future by looking at the past? History of the Future on History (DStv channel 186) thinks so. In this four-episode series, take a look at key aspects of society as researchers analyse past precedents and modern data, while projecting historical trends. 

No need for the “meecro-wah-vay”. Queen of decadent culinary indulgence Nigella Lawson believes that cooking is more than just a necessary act. “Food is what we feed our souls on, even when we’re only feeding our bodies,” says Lawson who returns in Nigella: Eat, Cook, Repeat on BBC Lifestyle (DStv channel 174). Welcome to her kitchen where she sets the stage for family life where eating brings people together for memorable moments.

There’s no end to the amazing entertainment on DStv this week – the perfect way to keep warm during chilly nights.

2021 63rd Grammy Awards

If you like music, the 2021 63rd Grammy Awards hosted by Trevor Noah will be an event you don’t want to miss. The show has been labelled as one of the most controversial occasions due to former US President Trump’s policies. These views have also paved the way for many artists, including hitmaker Macklemore, to publicly display their support for movements such as Black Lives Matter.

Kids Choice Awards 2021

Nickelodeon’s Kids Choice Awards is an annual event that brings together kids’ favourite celebrities, movies and music, as well as thousands of products for the younger set. Hosted by Kenan Thompson, this virtual show will have performances and appearances by major stars – look out for Milly Bobby Brown, Gal Gadot, Justin Bieber, Charli D’Amelio, Lin-Manuel Miranda and JoJo Siwa.

Moonchild Sanelly – Woza S1

Moonchild Sanelly is the blue-haired beauty known for creating the music genre known as Future Ghetto Punk. Born in Port Elizabeth, the talented musician has made big strides – from performing local poetry events in Durban to big stages at SXSW in Austin, Texas and Primavera Sound in Barcelona, Spain. All the footage in her first reality show will have an intimate and close feel as Moonchild’s team captures her daily life.

Hard Kill (Action Thriller)

Bruce Willis stars in this action blockbuster as Stephen E. Rivkin, a brilliant software developer whose company is worth billions of dollars. It’s so safe that Rivkin stores his own daughter’s medical records and x-rays on it.
