‘DiepCity’s’ Vele Menenje returns to ‘Skeem Saam’ as Wallet’s Evelyn

‘DiepCity’ actress Vele Menenje, who plays the the role of Evelyn on ‘Skeem Saam’ has revealed that she is returning to the soapie.

Actress Vele Menenje, who plays the role of Momo in DiepCity, has revealed that she is returning to her Skeem Saam role of Evelyn.  

Viewers of the SABC 1 educational soapie know her as the women who broke Wallet’s heart.

EVELYN RETURNS TO ‘SKEEM SAAM’  

DiepCity actress Vele Menenje says she is busy shooting with Skeem Saam where she plays the role of Wallet’s girlfriend, Evelyn.   

According to her interview with Drum Magazine, she has already started shooting with Skeem Saam.   

Viewers of the educational soapie will be thrilled to see her returning since her exit in May last year (2021).  

She played the girlfriend of fan-favourite poet, Wallet (Molefi Monaisa) who’s been with the show for more than five seasons.

HER ROLE IN ‘DIEPCITY’  

Fans of Vele Menenje also know her from her popular role as Momo in Mzansi Magic telenovela, DiepCity.   

Momo is a shebeen queen in DiepCity who is pregnant with her husband, Mgedeza’s (Mduduzi Mabaso) baby.  

Fans of the show know that she cheated on her husband and is carrying another man’s baby because her husband can’t conceive.   

She told the publication:  

“The character is still going strong and the storyline is changing and has more twists and turns.”  

She also adds that she is grateful to be working with some of Mzansi’s biggest names such Obed Baloyi, Dawn Thandeka King and Hamilton Dlamini on the popular telenovela.   

“They are some of the biggest names in the industry and instead of being pompous or arrogant, they trust and respect everyone on set.”

“Every day inside me there is a starstruck person, but I prepare and bring my best and never let the team down.”

VELE MENENJE’S OTHER PROJECTS  

Vele Menenje also told the publication that she’s looking forward to the year 2022 and what it will bring for her career.   

The Limpopo-born actress is not slowing down as she also has a project with Netflix that she cannot talk about just yet.   

“I am very excited about the new year, what it brings, and everything it represents.   

“I have really grown in the entertainment industry from kids’ TV, presenting, music and obviously acting.”

“In the future, I would really like to have my own talk show. It would be a great next step for me and something to tick off the list.”  

The former Our Perfect Wedding TV host says she speaks nine of the eleven languages.  

“I can also do about 10 different accents. I would really like to do a talk show because people are my passion.”
