Limpopo-born actress Lebohang Mpyana, who is popularly known for playing Khelina in Diep City says she’ll cherish playing the funny character forever’

The talented actress Lebohang Mpyana tells Sunday World that she’s not worried about being unemployed after Mzansi Magic canned Diep City, where she plays Khelina. 

The Black Brain Production telenovela will come to an end in March 2023 after Mzansi Magic confirmed it’s coming to an end in 2022.

She also tells the publication that she started production in just a new international movie role, which she cannot divulge at the moment because of the non-disclosure agreement. 

Her latest character allows her to play a different character in different settings. Mpyana adds that her current role in Diep City has also opened doors for her in stand-up comedy as she’s landed comedy gigs in Moletjie and Ga-Matlala in Limpopo. 

“I also got gigs as an MC, all because people spotted my talent as Khelina. It was a great experience to stand in front of the crowd popping jokes. I also got to MC Maphugugwe Festival.”

The actress reveals all these opportunities wouldn’t have been possible;e had it not been for Diep City.

The actress Lebohang Mpyana, who scored a Royalty Soapie Award as Khelina in Diep City also tells Sunday World that she played the role to the best of her ability. 

“I played Khelina to the best of my ability. I don’t do much when playing the character because Khelina, the character is my aunt. With the show coming to an end, everyone should expect Khelina who is funnier than ever because I promised myself to give it my best shot.”

The award-winning telenovela will come to an end on 3 March and stars actors such as The Estate actor Mduduzi Mabaso, Skeem Saam actress Nozuko Ncayiyane and Uzalo actress Dawn Thandeka King.
