‘Diep City’: Actor Chrispen Nyathi is inspired by pastoral role

‘Diep City’ star Chrispen Nyathi, who played Pastor Charleston revealed a church campaign to conduct acting workshops for the youth.

The award-winning actor Chrispen Nyathi, who played Pastor Charleston in Diep City announced a new church campaign which will see him conduct acting workshops for the youth.

CHRISPEN NYATHI: ‘CHARLESTON REMINDS ME OF MY JOURNEY’ 

The Zimbabwe-born actor Chrispen Nyathi revealed to Sunday World that playing the character of Pastor Charles in the telenovela DiepCity inspired him to remember who he should be.

He wants to contribute to humanity and society and has always been a church kid even before playing the pastor role.

“Charleston reminded me of the journey that I had started prior to fame. The Chrispen Nyathi Church Campaign is a reactivation of what I had tried to do earlier in my career before the glitz and the glamour,” said Nyathi.

The talented actor added that his project is now possible since appearing in the Black Brain telenovela.

Nyathi also says the workshop will be inclusive of theoretical and practical knowledge of becoming an actor as well as the do’s and don’ts to succeed in the entertainment industry.

The workshop is also for the youth of the church that will be presented during a  Sunday service.

“An introduction video has been uploaded to my Instagram page. All one has to do is forward the video to their story tag me and my team will then get in touch with you and make it possible.”

‘DIEP CITY’ ENDS

The Diep City actor Chrispen Nyathi also reveals to True Love that winning a Royalty Soapie Award for his role as Pastor Charleston made his faith in his craft even stronger

“To me, this award is a stamp of confidence in myself because that’s something I’ve struggled with, especially when it comes to working with the big names I’m working with. I’ve always wondered if I’m doing enough.”

“This award has given me the validation that I’m doing well, even though I can do better. It shows that I’m still on the right track. It also gives a sense of hope for young kids who are hoping to break into the industry, whether it’s South African kids or Zimbabwean kids.”

Actor-producer Mandla N, who’s also the creative director for Black Brain Pictures told Daily Sun that the Mzansi Magic telenovela DiepCity has been a hit on South African television.

DiepCity fans have played a big role in the success of the show over the past two years, and we are thankful for their support.”  The production company also released a statement that reveals that the show was envisioned for two years and the contract has ended.
