Actor Zolisa Xaluva receives lifetime award after ‘Gomora’ exit [WATCH]

Seasoned actor Zolisa Xaluva – who exited ‘Gomora’ as Melusi Dlamini recently bagged a prestigious award in his home province.

Former Generations and The Queen actor Zolisa Xaluva – who recently exited Mzansi Magic’s most-watched show – Gomora as Principal Melusi Dlamini was honoured with a lifetime achievement award during the Special MEC Awards ceremony in East London last Thursday (5 May).

ZOLISA XALUVA RECEIVES LIFETIME AWARD  

Popular actor Zolisa Xaluva – who just exited Gomora as Melusi Dlamini received his lifetime award -which was hosted by the Eastern Cape department of sports, arts, and culture.   

The awards aim to honour individuals who excel in the spheres of the arts and culture, according to Sunday World.  

Xaluva thanked the provincial government in a video as he was unable to attend the ceremony.   

“I am very honoured and grateful to be given such recognition, which clearly means that you appreciate the work that I do.”

“I will continue to do my work to the best of my ability and make everyone who believes in me proud,” he said.  

Isixhosa TV news broadcaster Noxolo Grootboom who retired in 2021 also walked away with an award during the ceremony.

HIS ROLES IN ‘GOMORA’, ‘THE QUEEN’, ‘THE THRONE’ AND MORE 

Xaluva got his big break in Generations (now dubbed Generations: The Legacy) as a gay man – Jason and is also popular for his roles in Ferguson Films’ The Throne as Sello and The Queen as Diamond Mabuza.   

He also played the role of Mogomotsi ‘Mo’ Masire alongside the late Shona Ferguson in Netflix’s hit series Kings of Jo’burg season one and also starred in e.tv’s canned soapie Rhythm City season one as HHP’s Manager according to TVSA.

The 40-year-old star made headlines at the end of April when it was revealed that he resigned from Gomora due to the change in his character’s storyline.   

He played the character of Melusi Dlamini for two seasons in the telenovela and will reportedly get replaced by The River’s Fezile Makhanya this season.
