Confirmed! Wiseman Mncube to replace Bonko Khoza in ‘The Wife’
The production company behind ‘The Wife’ has announced that Wiseman Mncube will be replacing Bonko Khoza as Mqhele.

Stained Glass, the production company behind The Wife, confirmed that Wiseman Mncube will play the role of Mqhele in season three of the Showmax Original telenovela.
WISEMAN MNCUBE REPLACES BONKO KHOZA IN ‘THE WIFE’
Stained Glass, the production company behind The Wife, confirmed that Wiseman Mncube will replace Bonko Khoza, as Mqhele in season three of Showmax’s The Wife.
Wiseman is best known for his role as Jama in eHostela. This performance earned him the Best Actor in a TV Drama Golden Horn at the 2020 SAFTAs. He also played Sibonelo in Uzalo and will star in the upcoming epic Shaka iLembe.
Wiseman replaces Khoza, who became a household name during The Wife’s run. Dubbed “the national husband” by fans, he was nominated for DStv Mzansi Viewers’ Choice and SAFTA Awards for the role.
“What actor wouldn’t want to be part of The Wife? Mqhele is a very interesting role and I’m in my element: there’s a lot to chew on and play off, from the love story to the anger to the care. uBonko carried the role with so much respect and power. I’m not here to replace Bonko but to start my own journey as Mqhele and take things from where he left off and run with it in my own way,” he said.
This comes after entertainment commentator Phil Mphela reported that the Uzalo star will be replacing Khoza.

SERIES PRODUCER WEIGHS IN
The series producer Kamogelo Aphase is excited to have Wiseman on board.
“Wiseman is a versatile performer with multiple accolades. Mqhele and his madness are in safe hands,” said Aphane.
“Wiseman’s work ethic and command of Zulu will take Mqhele to new heights this season,” Aphane continued.
The Wife is inspired by Dudu Busani-Dube’s bestselling book Naledi His Love. Season three of the telenovela will return to South African screens in November 2022.

Season three of The Wife starts production later this month. The telenovela is set to launch on Showmax in November 2022.
