Actress Lesego Marakalla – who played Rachel Kunutu in ‘Skeem Saam’ has returned to soapville as Winston’s ally in ‘Generations: The Legacy’.

Fan-favourite actress Lesego Marakalla, who played the role of Rachel Kunutu in Skeem Saam for nearly a decade has returned to our small screen in Generations: The Legacy as Winston’s accomplice.   

This is after the actress surprised her fans when she abruptly bid farewell to the SABC1 educational soapie in June 2020.

LESEGO MARAKALLA JOINS GENERATIONS: THE LEGACY  

Generations: The Legacy surprised viewers today when it revealed that award-winning actress Lesego Marakalla who became popular for playing Rachel Kunutu in Skeem Saam has joined their soapie as Winston’s partner in crime.  

In the scene, Marakalla’s character is heard bashing Sphesihle Cele for bad-mouthing serial killer Winston (Lehasa Moloi) who tried to kill her.  

The TVSA Friday 3 June teaser reads:  

“A stranger with a hidden agenda offers to help traumatised Sphe.”  

The teasers indicate that Marakalla’s character could be sent by Winston to lure Sphe (Pearl Monama) into a trap to ultimately kill her as she appears to be on Winston’s side in the teaser.  

Sphe became a target when she dated Winston briefly and escaped when her former husband Mazwi and her colleague Luyolo rescued her.   

The Generations teasers also indicate that Sphe will get rid of Winston for good this month.

RACHEL KUNUTU LEAVES ‘SKEEM SAAM’  

Marakalla’s fans vowed to watch Generations this week after seeing the teaser from the soapie on social media.  

The actress who won the hearts of Skeem Saam fans is still one of the most-talked-about actresses on social media as viewers of the educational soapie are still hoping for her return.  

The educational soapie released a statement on social media in June 2020 where they confirmed her exit from the show.  

The statement mentioned the actress was leaving the show to focus on her studies full time.   

“In her role as Rachel Kunutu Maphuthma, Marakalla has been one of the show’s leading young ladies, adding to the series’ sustained success over the seasons.”  

It is unclear at this stage how long the actress will be part of Generations
