RIP Lindiwe! Actress Nomvelo Makhanya exits ‘Scandal!’

‘Scandal!’ fans will bid farewell to actress Nomvelo Makhanya’s character Lindiwe on Thursday, 10 November when she dies in hospital.

Award-winning actress Nomvelo Makhanya, who’s been playing the fan-favourite role of Lindiwe Maseko-Ngema for nearly a decade will bid farewell to e.tv’s soapie Scandal! this Thursday.

‘LINDIWE’S CONDITION WORSENS’  

The Citizen reports that the e.tv soapie Scandal! released a statement about Nomvelo Makhanya’s role Lindiwe Ngema, which indicates that her condition will get worse and she will exit the show this Thursday, 10 November.  

“As her condition worsened, she was forced into a choice between the survival of her baby or having an abortion to ensure her own survival. Lindiwe decided that after all she had gone through in life, she would take the risk of keeping her baby, and fight to the bitter end.”  

Makhanya, who joined the soapie at 16 years bids farewell to the role of Lindiwe Ngema after nine years of playing the character.  

She joined the show as Mlungisi Ngema’s (Patrick Mofokeng) teenage daughter in Soweto and exits the show as Larona Maseko’s mother and Nhlamulo’s (Mathews Rantsoma) wife.  

Her character was recently diagnosed with PAH after she found out she was pregnant and she had to choose between her life or her baby’s life and she chose her baby.  

Viewers will watch Lindiwe take her last breath on Thursday, 10 November at the hospital in front of the Masekos and Ngemas.  

NOMVELO MAKHANYA CONFIRMS ‘SCANDAL!’ EXIT  

According to The Citizen, the actress Nomvelo Makhanya revealed on her live stream on her Instagram account that she was leaving the show for greener pastures but wouldn’t say exactly what that was.   

The publication adds that Makhanya wasn’t ready to exit as she had previously read her script and her departure is too emotional.   

The actress has appeared in stage plays such as The Bald Prima Donn, African Reflections, and Maybe This Time and also acted in TV shows such as Isibaya and Soul City, according to iHarare.

Makhanya also appeared in Netflix’s I Am All Girls as Ntombi, alongside former Isidingo actress Hlubi Mboya and Leshego Molokwane.
