INSIDE NICHOLAS NKUNA’S ROLE AS ANATHI MPOFU

The talented actor Nicholas Nkuna, who plays Alexa Willman’s husband Fikani in 7de Laan and played a professor in Skeem Saam will make his debut in Generations: The Legacy as Anathi Mpofu on Wednesday 8 March, according to TVSA.

The publication adds that Nkuna’s latest character is a seductive bad boy who’ll do anything to get the story, no matter the cost.

On his new role as Anathi Mpofu on Generations: The Legacy, the actor told The Citizen in a statement:

“Generations is one of those shows, when I grew up, it has always been like a dream of mine to be part of the show and what the show has done for South African television, for African television. I wanted to be part of that dream! It is actually not the first time that I screened for the show. This was the third time. It means in life, if you want something you’ve got to fight for it.”

It reported the actor will make his debut alongside rising star Rebaone “Ben” Kgosimore, who will play Kabisi Moroka’s (Mpho B. Molepo’s) son Paul Moroka Jnr.

Kgosimore has reportedly appeared in TV shows such as Scandal! and MTV’s Shuga: Down South 2.

‘GENERATIONS: THE LEGACY’: FANS AND CASTING DIRECTOR REACTIONS

Viewers of the soapie Generations: The Legacy reckon the 7de Laan, Skeem Saam actor Nicholas Nkuna’s journalist role Anathi Mpofu has replaced Lelethu Malinga, played by Thomas Yonda.

A Gen_Legacy fan @Ronda revealed on TVSA’s comment section:

“Interesting on the Nicholas Nkuna and Six Nyamane characters coz it seems like they just replaced Kay Sibiya/Yonda Thomas and Zola Nombona. I guess the actors that left, left prematurely as it feels like a recasting of the previous cast than the new cast/characters. But I’m enjoying Six Nyamane aka Nozipho Cele so far. We’ll see how Nicholas settles in. The core of Generations has always been the Morokas. In recent years they haven’t been that many on the show. Looking forward to the new addition.”

Thomas exited the soapie over a year ago as the enthusiastic journalist Lelethu Malinga to join BET’s faith-based telenovela Redemption

Generations’ casting directing Russel Savadier told TVSA that Anathi Mpofu has a certain swagger and arrogance and that he dominates every room he enters.

“In Nicholas, we found an actor who is able to dominate every scene he’s in. He has a wonderfully strong screen presence – and we felt he was the perfect fit for our new Hard Nosed Journalist.”
