‘TEACHABLE SPIRIT’

The 32-year-old actor, played the role of Tshireletso, on SABC 2’s Tshivenda soapie, Muvhango, plays the role of Siphamandla in Mzansi Magic’s Sunday Thriller, Umkhokha, and featured in e.tv’s soapie, Imbewu: The Seed, as Zenzele.

He also appears in Netflix’s comedy film, Little Big Mouth, which premiered on 22 October, alongside actress, Amanda du Pont.

The talented actor also states that he shot two other films that will be released next year (2022).

Maps told Sowetan that he credits all the good happenings to his open-mindedness and teachable spirit.

He also states in the interview that juggling many roles is not a child’s play, but discipline, passion, and the love he has for acting has kept him grounded.

“I am so grateful to everything happening right now.”

“My mentor once said, ‘Nay, you will go far because you have a teachable spirit, and you are able to take direction.’ I try to apply that to my life holistically.“

Maps further added that there were days he was shooting in two separate locations in one day and that he’d spent the first six hours on one set and the next few hours on a separate set in the afternoon.

“When I get home at night, I still have to go through the lines of all the roles that I am playing because preparation is key.”

Maps say his Muvhango role was the most challenging one because Tshireletso is a narcissist, an abuser, and a manipulator.

“I find it hard to act the role because I have never laid my hand on a woman.”
