Zakes Bantwini rings in the new year with ‘Osama’ music video [watch]

South African producer and DJ Zakes Bantwini made his mark in 2021 with his smash hit single Osama featuring Kasango. To round off 2021, the award-winning artist released the Osama music video starring legendary actor John Kani. The music video also drew attention to the beauty of South Africa.

‘OSAMA’ MUSIC VIDEO

The Osama music video was officially released on 31 December 2021. It was directed by Darion 4K who has worked with the likes of Riky Rick, Focalistic, Manu Worldstar and Aubrey Qwana. 

The video opens with a powerful monologue by John Kani. As he and Bantwini look over Johannesburg, the Black Panther star reminds his “son” Osama, that he has a purpose and is the “descendant of the people of the sun”.

“Do not doubt yourself. Do not allow fear to enter your heart. Remember who you are. Remember where you come from,” says Kani. 

In the video, Bantwini goes on a journey through the country with his journey ending in the sea. The final scenes see Bantwini with the likes of DJ Shimza, Sjava, DJ Sbu and Oskido raising a glass together.

‘OSAMA’ RECEIVES RAVING REVIEWS 

The Osama music video received exceptional reviews from music lovers on Twitter. One tweep praised Zakes Bantwini saying the video went straight to his heart and mind. 

“The Osama music video is one of the cleanest, most creative videos of the country this year. And I’m really convinced it’ll continue to be for a very long while.”

“Such creativity. I felt that intro!! God’s Speed Osama!!”.

ENDING OFF 2021 ON A HIGH NOTE

Zakes Bantwini also ended 2021 with Osama landing the number one spot on the official South African charts. The song beat out amapiano bangers, Asibe Happy by Kabza De Small and DJ Maphorisa and Adiwele by Young Stunna.

Reacting to the news on Instagram, Bantwini wrote: “Feels good to be the number one song in the country all over again. It’s all because of you. Thank you so much!”
