Mathematician Valery Vermeulen bridged two of his worlds together, science and music in his electro album ‘Mikromedas AdS/CFT 001’.

Belgian mathematician, lecturer and musician Valery Vermeulen has released an album made up of data from black holes. Vermeulen worked with Dr Thomas Hertog a colleague and long-time collaborator of the late Stephen Hawking on the electro album titled Mikromedas AdS/CFT 001.
WHO IS VALERY VERMEULEN?
Valery Vermeulen has been interested in both science and music since he was a young boy and started playing piano at seven years old.
“I also got into physics and science. I stumbled across quantum physics around 16. We had a library and I am a curious person,” he told TechRadar.
Later in his life, Vermeulen took on two different career paths. He was studying for his Doctorate in Mathematics at Ghent University while performing on the streets of Antwerp in Belgium.
BRIDGING ART AND SCIENCE IN ‘MIKROMEDAS ADS/CFT 001’
Valery Vermeulen brought his two words, art and science together in a six-track electronic album titled Mikromedas AdS/CFT 001. The album was released on Friday 3 December 2021.
The electronic album was produced using data streams generated by various simulation models of astrophysical black holes and observational data of regions in space with extreme gravitational fields.
The data Vermeulen used for Mikromedas AdS/CFT 001 includes gravitational wave data, data generated by black branes and neutron star data to name a few.
The mathematician worked with Thomas Hertog, a former collaborator of the late Stephen Hawking who worked on the gravitational waves of the album.

‘MIKROMEDAS ADS/CFT 001’ BAGS AN ACHIEVEMENT
Vermeulen’s album Mikomedas ADs/CFT 001 bagged a spot on Belgian radio station, Radio Scorpio’s top 100 albums of the year. The album was number 91 on the list.
Taking to Instagram to celebrate the achievement, he shared that the album was released through London-based record label Ash International and mastered by English musician Simon Scott.
