Legendary rock band The Rolling Stones kicked off their 60th-anniversary European tour in Madrid, Spain on Wednesday 1 June. The Paint It Black hitmakers will perform 14 shows in Europe and the United Kingdom to celebrate six decades in music. The band had a surprise for fans in Madrid and performed their 1966 hit Out of Time for the first time.

ROLLING STONES CELEBRATE 60 YEARS 

Dubbed the world’s greatest band, The Rolling Stones have dominated the rock music scene for years with their timeless hits and breathtaking performances. 

Taking to Twitter on Sunday 8 May, the legendary band shared that their first performance as the Rolling Stones took place on 12 July 1962. 

“From there they took Sunday night residency at Richmond’s Crawdaddy Club, which was then forced to move venue to accommodate the growing crowds!”

“From ‘64 to ‘67 they toured the UK seven times and the USA five, as well as dates in Europe, the Far East and Australasia pandemonium, ensued and this was just the beginning.” 

ROLLING STONES PERFORM 1966 HIT ‘OUT OF TIME’

The Rolling Stones’ Out of Time was first released on their album Aftermath but the most popular version of the song is by English muso Chris Farlowe and was produced by Mick Jagger. 

The Rolling Stones took the stage on 1 June at Madrid’s Metropolitano Stadium. According to Rolling Stone, the performance was their first European performance since the earth of their drummer Charlie Watts who passed away in August 2021. 

The Rolling Stones performed Out of Time live for the first time and had the crowd roaring.

Following a successful performance in Madrid, the Rolling Stones are jetting off to Munich for the next performance in Munich, Germany on Sunday 5 June. 

The band also has performances lined up in Liverpool, Milan, London, Brussels, Vienna, Paris and Stockholm.
