ISLEY BROTHERS REIMAGINE A 1975 CLASSIC WITH BEYONCÉ

The Isley Brothers, made up of Ronald and Ernie Isley, have been active in the music industry since 1955. The group is best known for their singles Busted, It’s Your Thing, Twist and Shout and This Old Heart of Mine

Speaking to Billboard about their collaboration with Beyoncé, The Isley Brothers said Make Me Say It Again was the right song for a duet.

“It’s probably one of the greatest songs that Ernie wrote. And when we’ve performed the song in concert, the response has been unbelievable. So this was the right song to do,” said Ronald.

“When it came time for us to record Make Me then, it was flawless. Now, this duet is a whole redefinition of the song that many people will be hearing for the very first time. And this new version is the mountain top,” added Ernie.

BEYONCÉ’S MOTHER REACTS TO ‘MAKE ME SAY IT AGAIN, GIRL’

Ronald Isley’s wife and manager, Kandy, said Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles- Lawson, was very influential in putting together the duet. Knowles-Lawson was on a rollercoaster of emotions when she heard the song for the first time.

“She has a love for the Isley Brothers and her daughter grew up listening to this type of music. All we can say is that God’s hands was on the whole project. And the fact that they are giving us permission to put it out as this time is just overly special,” said Kandy.

“Beyoncé’s mother texted us to say how much they were crying over the record when Beyoncé played it for them,” expressed Ronald.
