SANDF marches to Zakes Bantwini’s hit ‘Osama’ ahead of SONA [watch]

The South African Defence Force (SANDF) is preparing for the State of the Nation Address (SONA) at Cape Town City Hall on Thursday 10 February with a chart-topping hit! A video of the SANDF’s practice parade hit Twitter and they were marching to Zakes Bantwini’s dance hit, Osama featuring Kasango.

Former 5FM radio presenter Rob Forbes posted the video on Twitter and left some tweeps wondering if the SANDF members resisted the urge to bust out a few dance moves!

ZAKES BANTWINI’S ‘OSAMA’

Zakhele Madida aka Zakes Bantwini officially released his hit single Osama on 10 September 2021 after first playing the song during a DJ set at Shimza’s afrotech inspired music sessions Kunye, in August. Osama formed part of Bantwini’s fourth album, Ghetto King.

After its release, the song quickly rose to the top of South Africa’s RadioMonitor charts and stayed there for 10 weeks

The hit song caught the attention of American producer and DJ, Diplo, who played the song during a DJ set in Paris.

SANDF MARCHES TO ‘OSAMA’ 

A video of the SANDF members marching to a stripped-down version of Osama was posted on Twitter by former 5FM radio presenter, Rob Forbes on Tuesday 8 February.

According to TimesLive, the SA Army support base band in KwaZulu-Natal are part of the preparations ahead of the SONA on Thursday 10 February. The video was taken during a practice parade.

Rob Forbes shared the video, writing: “SANDF plays bangers only.”

‘YOU KNOW THEY ARE DANCING ON THE INSIDE’

Reacting to the video on Twitter, many questioned if the SANDF members were resisting the urge to bust out their best dance moves.

One tweep wrote: “You know they are dancing on the inside.

“If I was a soldier here, I wouldn’t have kept my composure and continued marching, nope,” wrote another tweep.

“Not even ONE head bopping? I know my country, please.”

“At least they’ve got rhythm.”
