RIP Riky Rick: Cotton Fest heads to Cape Town in December

Riky Rick’s Cotton Fest is set to take place at Paarden Eiland Park in the Mother City on Saturday 10 December.

After his sudden death in February, Riky Rick’s hip-hop festival, Cotton Fest, was postponed to April. For the first time ever, the festival is set to hit Cape Town on Saturday 10 December. The hip-hop star passed away on 22 February after taking his own life at his Johannesburg north home.

COTTON FEST HEADS TO CAPE TOWN 

Created by hip-hop star and fashion icon Riky Rick, Cotton Fest rose to popularity in 2019.The festival featured more than 150 artists and was more than just a showcase of the best music in South Africa. Mzansi’s youth also gathered to celebrate fashion and lifestyle. 

This year, Cotton Fest will head to Cape Town for the first time ever in December. The festival will take place at the Paarden Eiland Park.

“With what started out as a great idea between Riky and I many years ago, to a whole culture movement called Cotton Fest,” said co-founder Alain Ferrier. 

“Alongside his family, we are extremely excited to be building on his legacy and extending the festival to my city, which was always part of our plans.”

WHAT TO EXPECT AT COTTON FEST CAPE TOWN 

Cotton Fest in the Mother City will feature performances from Cape Town and Johannesburg-based artists. The “Cotton Stage” will feature headliners and the second stage will feature the new wave of hip-hop and amapiano artists. 

The event will also feature a sports area with a basketball half court and a skating ramp. Cotton Fest will also have photo booths and chill areas. 

The “Tuckshop” will be an area for festival-goers to purchase Cotton Fest merchandise.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

Tickets for Cotton Fest will go on sale from Tuesday 18 October and will range from R200 to R600.
