Lil Nas X to be honoured at 2022 Songwriters Hall of Fame [watch]

American rapper and singer-songwriter Lil Nas X is set to be honoured at the Songwriters Hall of Time on 16 June at an exclusive ceremony at the Marriot Marquis Hotel in New York City. 

According to Variety, the Old Town Road hitmaker will receive the Hal David Starlight Award which honours “gifted young songwriters who are making a significant impact in the music industry”.

LIL NAS X TO BE HONOURED AT THE SONGWRITERS HALL OF FAME

Speaking to Variety, Songwriters Hall of Fame chair Nile Rodgers praised Lil Nas X mentioning that the young muso is someone they are “very proud” to honour the young rapper with the Hal David Starlight Award. 

“He has perhaps better than anyone demonstrated how powerful great songs are with Old Town Road and Montero dominating the charts for almost every day of the last three years.”

Songwriters Hall of Fame president, Linda Moran added: “ He is certainly worthy of joining the esteemed list of past Starlight Award honorees.”

Other artists who have received the prestigious award include Drake, Ed Sheeran, John Mayer, Taylor Swift and Alicia Keys. 

BILLBOARD MUSIC AWARDS

After missing out on the Grammy Awards in March, Lil Nas X scored himself a win at the Billboard Music Awards on 16 May. 

The star rapper won the Top Rap Song award for his chart-topping single Industry Baby featuring Jack Harlow.

‘LONG LIVE MONTERO TOUR’

To celebrate the release of his debut album Montero, Lil Nas X is set to kick off his World Tour on 6 September in Detriot, Michigan. This is Lil Nas X’s very first tour.

Taking to Instagram on 28 April, the 23-year-old musician shared that he’ll also be performing in Paris, London, Brussels, Barcelona and Berlina.
