‘TOP GUN: MAVERICK’

Top Gun: Maverick, starring Tom Cruise, Miles Teller and Jennifer Connelly, follows a test pilot who is called in to train a group of Top Gun graduates for a specialised mission. The test pilot, Captain Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, will be played by Tom Cruise.

The film, directed by Joseph Kosinski, is a sequel to the 1986 film Top Gun, directed by Tony Scott.

The upcoming film was originally scheduled to be released in July 2019 but was moved due to the “complex flight sequences”. It was further delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic and will officially be released on 27 May 2022.

“I wanted to make music into a song where we share our deep need to both be understood and try to understand each other – a longing to be close when we feel so far away and an ability to celebrate life’s heroes,” wrote the 36-year-old singer.

“This song is a love letter to the world, during and after a very hard time. I’ve wanted you to hear it for so long.”
