KHAYA MTHETHWA’S ‘ART & WORSHIP’

Khaya Mthethwa’s new album comes after his 2018 release, All About Jesus. In an interview with Drum, he explained that his Art & Worship album was very “self-reflective”.

“I am hoping that I am not just telling my story but that I get to echo what is happening in other people’s lives. As a worship leader, you have to be in tune with everyone’s heart around you,” said Mthethwa.

Taking to Twitter on 14 October, the gospel star said Bhekani Uthando, the fourth track on the album, was an arrangement of his mom and dad’s favourite gospel songs.

“Brings me to tears everytime I hear these two songs,” he wrote.

JOINING KAYA 959

The former Idols SA winner was one of many radio stars who joined Kaya 959 this year. Mthethwa kicked off his new radio show, On That Note, in June.

“This is my opportunity to get to experience some musicality in a different sense and get to play some of my favourite tracks and talk about some of that music as well,” said Mthethwa to Drum.

“ A big chunk of the show will be conversations with some of the people who are behind the music we’ll be playing. We are going to focus a lot on entrepreneurs, I love sharing stories about how small businesses are developing in the community and how they grow from being a hustler to handling a business.”
