Blues muso Gerald Clark to close off ‘Take the Stage’ concert series

Award-winning blues artist Gerald Clark will close off the V&A Waterfront’s ‘Take the Stage’ concert series on Saturday 26 March.

The Take the Stage Series, hosted at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town, is a platform for South African musos to showcase their talents. Emerging artists The Unity Band, The Youth In Music Excellence Band and The Rivertones have all taken the stage. Award-winning artist Gerald Clark will close off the series with a performance on Saturday 26 March.

WHO IS GERALD CLARK? 

Gerald Clark kicked off his career as the frontman for the local blues band, Delta Blue and performed in major music festivals around the country including Oppikopi and Kirstenbosch Summer Concerts. 

The talented singer’s debut album, Sweepslag, released in 2009, was nominated for Best Afrikaans Alternative Music Album at the South African Music Awards (Samas) the same year. 

He has collaborated with the likes of Bok van Blerk, Van Coke Kartel, Schalk Joubert and Gian Groen over the years. Clark’s voice portrays the honesty of the blues. 

THE MAKING OF ‘ELDERFLOWERS’

His 2019 single, Elderflowers, is a stand-out track from his discography. Speaking to The South African in 2020, Clark said the song captures the “absolute bliss of a lover’s quest in the eye of the storm”. 

The music video was shot in the Czech Republic, Prague and also featured the talented singer’s fiancée, Radka Bartošíková. 

“It took us a long time to release the video and we are happy to share it with the world.” 

“We were basically re-enacting our very own, very true love story.”

GERALD CLARK CLOSES ‘TAKE THE STAGE’

Gerald Clark is set to close off the V&A Waterfront’s Take the Stage on Saturday 26 March. 

The talented blues musician’s performance is set to kick off at 16:00 and entrance is free.
