Malawian-South African producer Gemini Major has worked with the best of the best in the local music scene. The three-time South African Hip Hop Award nominee recently travelled to Ghana where he had some studio time with American rappers, Chance the Rapper and Vic Mensa.

GEMINI MAJOR’S IMPACT ON THE SOUTH AFRICAN MUSIC SCENE

Gemini Major’s sound is a fusion of afrobeats and hip-hop. Although he made the decision to focus on afrobeats in recent years, he has contributed plenty to the SA hip-hop scene. He became a major force in the music industry after producing Nasty C’s hit track Juice Back and went on to work with the likes of AKA, Cassper Nyovest, Anatii, Mafikizolo and Manu WorldStar.

The 31-year-old was signed to Cassper Nyovest’s Family Tree Records but left the label in 2017.

He has been the brains behind Cassper’s hit track Tito Mboweni and DJ Speedsta’s Mayo featuring Yung Swiss, Tellaman, Shane Eagle and Frank Casino.
