SAMA-winning songbird Elaine topped Twitter’s trending list over the weekend after a video of her upcoming amapiano single went viral. The Risky hitmaker teamed up with Focalistic and amapiano producers Mellow and Sleazy but tweeps were not impressed…

ELAINE TEAMS UP WITH FOCALISTIC ON NEW AMAPIANO SINGLE 

Elaine and Focalistic are undoubtedly two of South Africa’s most successful artists. The musicians rose from Pretoria to reach new heights internationally. 

Taking to Twitter on Tuesday 11 October, Focalistic shared a snippet of his upcoming single featuring Elaine, Mellow and Sleazy titled Botshego. In the video, Focalistic and the R&B star are jamming along to their groovy collaboration. 

Since the two-minute video was posted by Focalistic, it was reposted by Twitter user @SAHIPHOPFEEDs and has been viewed more than 290 000 times.

TWEEPS ARE NOT IMPRESSED WITH AMAPIANO COLLABORATION

Tweeps did not hesitate to express their disappointment about Elaine and Focalistic’s amapiano collaboration. One tweep thought the singer would be “an international star” after signing a record deal with Columbia Records.

“America ruined [her] brand, she was sooo talented,” wrote one tweep. 

“This Elaine downfall is painful to watch because I genuinely thought she’d be an international star,” wrote another tweep. 

“One album wonder.”

WHAT IS ELAINE UP TO? 

After her 2019 EP, Elements, topped music charts across the globe, Elaine signed to Columbia Records, joining the likes of Harry Styles, Lil Nas X, Adele and more. This year, she released three singles, Shine, Deja Vu and Fading Away. Earlier this month, she was selected as Spotify’s EQUAL Africa artist for October. 

“It feels great to be a woman and it feels great to be in this industry. Moreover, I’m grateful to the EQUAL Africa program for amplifying the voices of game-changing African women,” she said of the achievement.
