In 2020, DJ Sbu blew the Mzansi house scene away with his album titled Home Coming – The African Odyssey. The star producer and DJ is hoping to make the same impact with his new album set to be released in April and says his fans should expect a different sound from him this time around.

DJ SBU’S SOUND

DJ Sbu has been delivering quality music releases for years. The former Metro FM radio host makes smooth house music with a South African touch. Some of his most popular songs include Remember When It Rained which was released in 2006 and Lengoma featuring Zahara released in 2011.

After setting a new world record in radio with a nine-day broadcast, DJ Sbu said he was stepping away from radio to focus on music.

“I think it’s time to hang up the gloves to focus on building the young guys,” he told City Press

NEW MUSIC ON THE WAY

Speaking to TshisaLive, DJ Sbu revealed that he has new music on the way but people should expect to hear a different sound from him.

“My music right now might not be like the music I released many years ago and the success and noise that it might have now might not be what I did then, but right now I’m rewriting history. I’ve always believed in living a purposeful life.”

The world record holder is set to launch his new album on Sunday 3 April at Hartbeespoort Holiday Resort in the North West. According to his Instagram caption promoting the event, he will also be launching Non-fungible tokens (NFTS).

ANOTHER WORLD RECORD?

In January 2021, DJ Sbu set the world record for the longest radio music show. The DJ played 216 hours of music non-stop in an attempt to raise funds for Siyazigabisa Home of Hope in Tembisa.

It seems the successful DJ is looking to set another world record. In June he shared that he was looking to set the world record for the highest altitude DJ set on land.

Taking to Instagram in December he shared that he was already practicing for the attempt.

“I know it sounds crazy and impossible now. But it always does until it’s done.”
