‘Hit the Gucci’: How Riky Rick wants to be remembered [watch]
In a hip-hop track released in 2017, the late star rapper Riky Rick told fans to spend thousands at the Gucci store in remembrance of him.

South African rapper Riky Rick passed away on Wednesday 23 February. According to Sunday World, the 34-year-old musician was allegedly found hanging from a rope at his home in Johannesburg.
In a song released by the star rapper in 2017, titled Pick You Up, Riky Rick told his fans how he wanted “to be remembered”. A portion of his lyrics read: “When I die, to remember me, hit the Gucci, spend a hundred g’s.”

FAMILY CONFIRMS RIKY RICK’S DEATH
Riky Rick’s family confirmed his death in a statement sent to News24 on Wednesday 23 February.
“Affectionately known as Riky Rick across the globe, he was deeply loved by his family, friends and the entire entertainment industry.”
“His love for family, friends and community is well known.”
Sunday World reports that the Boss Zonke hitmaker suffered from severe depression and as a result, allegedly took his own life.
“Riky spoke about his depression and he was doing okay. He stopped taking drugs many years ago and that was never a secret. I don’t know what might have triggered this. But we will pray for Bianca and the kids,” a close friend told the publication.
HOW RIKY RICK WANTED TO BE REMEMBERED
Riky Rick released his EP Stay Shining in November 2017. The eight-track EP featured collaborations from the likes of Cassper Nyovest, YoungstaCPT, Nasty C and Nigerian sensation Davido.
His song Pick You Up, featuring A-Reece was a standout track on the album. In the song, Riky Rick rapped about how he wants to be remembered.
In the first verse of the song, the rapper’s lyrics read: “When I die, to remember me, hit the Gucci, spend a hundred g’s”. (A thousand dollars)
“Make a million, put it on the streets. Live and eat, let my n*ggas eat.”
“Open eyes left the youngins see.”

TRIBUTES POUR IN
Tributes have poured in for Riky Rick since news of his passing broke. Taking to Instagram, Nadia Nakai wrote: “I have no words. I can’t believe I’m saying RIP Riky. The tears won’t stop…”
Cape Town-based rapper Dee Koala wrote: “A lot of first times in this industry were possible because of you. When I can’t take it anymore I’d call you and you’d listen to me cry. As busy as you were.
Boity wrote: “Your resilience changed the game! Your selfless heart opened so many doors for many. You changed a lot of lives including mine!”
