Award-winning singer-songwriter Ami Faku has collaborated with some of Mzansi’s best producers including DJ Maphorisa, Kabza De Small and Prince Kaybee. The Lala Ngoxolo hitmaker is gearing up to release a collaboration with Grammy-winning producer, Black Coffee. Taking to Twitter on 1 September, Ami Faku shared a 43-second clip of her studio session with Black Coffee and Mzansi can’t wait!

AMI FAKU HITS THE STUDIO WITH BLACK COFFEE 

Since releasing her debut album, Imali, in 2019, Ami Faku has risen to become one of Mzansi’s top vocalists. In just three years, Faku has collaborated with the likes of Sha Sha, Benny Afroe, Sun-El Musician and SAMA winner, Nomfundo Moh. 

Ami Faku teased her collaboration with Black Coffee in a Twitter post on 1 September. In the video, the two local superstars are experimenting with different tempos to give South Africa a chart-topping single. 

“Spent some time in the studio with Black Coffee. Excited to share this special project with you!!” wrote Faku.

MZANSI CAN’T WAIT! 

Reacting to Ami Faku and Black Coffee’s upcoming release, one tweep felt the collaboration was “long overdue”. 

“I know this will be a soothing Sunday chillas song and I love that!” wrote one tweep. 

“This is going to be magical,” wrote another tweep. 

“I just know this is going to be favourite song.”

BLACK COFFEE’S INTERNATIONAL ACHIEVEMENT SAMA 

After his groundbreaking Grammy win earlier this year, Black Coffee was awarded the International Achievement Award at the 28th edition of the South African Music Awards (SAMAs). 

In a touching Twitter video, Black Coffee thanked the SAMAs for the recognition. 

“For many years, I’ve watched South African great artists travel the world, sell out shows, so being a recipient of this prestigious International Achievement Award is such a big deal for me.”
