Following a much-anticipated announcement from health minister Joe Phaahla regarding mask-wearing and event capacity restrictions, Big Concerts will now be operating at 100% capacity ahead of some of its international shows.

Grammy-winning Canadian sensation Justin Bieber and legendary band Foreigner have shows scheduled for South Africa later this year and if you haven’t gotten your tickets… Now is your chance!

HEALTH MINISTER REPEALS COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS

In April 2020, the South African government made it mandatory for all South Africans to wear masks when the country moved into lockdown level four.

Almost two years later, Joe Phaahla has repealed mask-wearing regulations, meaning South Africans are free to walk around mask-free.

Phaahla also scrapped event capacity restrictions, meaning all events can now operate at full capacity. Some events, including the National Arts Festival in Makhanda, have already begun operating at 100%.

BIG CONCERTS READY FOR A SHOW

Speaking to Sunday Times, Big Concerts CEO, Justin van Wyk, is ready to welcome more music lovers to their events.

“This important development sets us on the path to economic recovery. SA music lovers cautious about attending large concerts can attend live shows with full confidence the shows will happen and the environment will be safe,” said van Wyk.

Van Wyk added that wearing a face mask and presenting a vaccine certificate or negative COVID-19 test is up to the concertgoer.
