Going international? Babes Wodumo announces upcoming track with Diplo

Babes Wodumo wants to make 2022 her year! The gqom queen revealed that she has an upcoming track with Major Lazer’s Diplo!

Gqom queen Babes Wodumo is ready to take the stage at her first concert! Wodumo’s concert is set to take place on Friday 3 December at the Durban Amphitheatre in North Beath KwaZulu-Natal (KZN). And that’s not all. The gqom queen also has a song coming up with Major Lazer’s Diplo…

The award-winning gqom artist is elated about her upcoming concert. Not being on the stage due to COVID-19 was enough inspiration for her. 

“Firstly, I’m excited because this is the first time I get to host my own show. Secondly, what’s important for me right now is to reconnect with people who love Babes an her music and all the music lovers,” she told SunBuzz

“I cannot wait to get onto that stage and perform for my fans. This is an event that I want to mark as the festive season’s party starter in KZN. 

She shared that afro-soul singer Sjava, gqom pioneer DJ Lag and Distruction Boyz member Que DJ. 


Babes Wodumo revealed that she has a single with Major Lazer member Diplo! This comes after the American producer was featured on Major League DJz’ Balcony Mix

“I was in the studio with some great musicians for features. I am more excited about a single I’m about to drop with Diplo. It’s coming out soon.”

The 27-year-old gqom star revealed that her EP is set to be released in a few months. “It will have some exciting surprises,” she added.  

Wodumo shared three tracks of a tracklist featuring Amaroto (Reece Madlisa and Zuma), Big Nuz, Dldla Msunqisi and Madanon.

Babes Wodumo welcomed her baby boy Sponge on 16 June. Babes Wodumo and partner Mampintsha use every chance they can get to gush over their little baby boy. Sponge even has his own Instagram where he “interacts” with his parents regular. 

On his latest Instagram post, Sponge thanked his father for being a part of his life and Babes seemed to feel a bit left out. 

“I love you and the world knows too, I wouldn’t trade you for anything.”
