‘It’s been good’: Anatii removes all solo albums from streaming platforms

Local producer and rapper Anatii shocked SA hip-hop fans when he removed his solo albums from streaming platforms.

Over the years, local rapper and producer Anatii has risen to become one of Mzansi’s top talents with his incredible bars and stellar production skills. The 29-year-old set Twitter ablaze on Monday 13 June after announcing that he has removed all his solo albums from major streaming platforms. 

Local hip-hop fans were left asking…What is going on?

ANATII REMOVES SOLO ALBUMS FROM STREAMING PLATFORMS 

As of 13 June, Anatii’s debut solo album Artiifact and his second genre-bending album, Iyeza were both unavailable on streaming platforms. Anatii’s Artiifact features the likes of AKA, Cassper Nyovest, Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage and US rapper, Omarion. 

Taking to Twitter, the muso wrote: “Removed my solo albums from streaming platforms. It’s been good. Ndiyabulela [Thank you].”

“Time for creators to take control. Sell art not your soul.” 

TWEEPS ARE DEVASTATED

Taking to Twitter, hip-hop fans expressed concern for Anatii after the producer made the shock announcement. 

One tweep wrote: “I really hope Anatii is okay.” 

“Anatii removed all his solo albums from all streaming platforms and I’m like still attached to Iyeza,” wrote another tweep. 

“I really don’t blame Anatii nobody is listening to hip-hop in South Africa these days, I’m sure he was getting two streams per month…I even forgot he existed.”

WORKING WITH BEYONCÉ

After releasing his second album Iyeza in October 2018, Anatii went under the radar and kept out of the spotlight. 

The muso worked with Beyoncé on her The Lion King: The Gift album. Anatii secured writing credits on two tracks including Brown Skin Girl featuring WizKid, Blue Ivy and SAINt JHB.
