It has been a few years since AKA, Cassper Nyovest or Emtee’s names have appeared on the MTV Base Hottest MCs List, and 2021 is no different.
The annual Hottest MCs list and two-part panel discussion that airs on MTV Base, DStv channel 322, has just been released. It is always a hot topic when the list comes out.
Lit new artists like Blxckie and Big Zulu are taking over. The OGs need to respect the backseat that they have been put in so many times.
VETERAN ARTISTS AKA, CASSPER AND EMTEE TAKE A BACKSEAT
While AKA, Cassper and Emtee attract a lot of attention, making this list requires a whole lot more. Some would say their flavours are a little stale. They might be young but they have done too many rounds around the old block.
The last time AKA made an appearance on the list was in 2019. It has been a little longer for Cassper and Emtee, with their last mentions being in 2018.

Some take the list very seriously, especially unwaveringly loyal fans. However, not seeing AKA, Cassper or Emtee on the list had some chuckling.

One artist that got ALL the praise was Blxckie! The KwaZulu-Natal artist took the No 1 spot. It seems like he is one of the only placements that the majority of peeps were happy with.
The new kid on the block has definitely taken the music industry by storm and this just proves that he is one to keep an eye on. Blxckie is sure to marvel Mzansi with some lit new music in the new year.
