CAPE TOWN PRIDE 2022

Cape Town was one of the few cities in the world to have a Pride event in 2020. The event took place on 29 February 2020, weeks before South Africa went into a nationwide lockdown.

This year, the event will be held on Saturday 26 February at the A-Track in Green Point. The annual parade will take place through the city’s central business district (CBD).

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

Cape Town Pride 2022 promises everything and more. This year, the colourful event will have a bigger stage, larger grounds, more stalls and performances from local and international artists.

Tickets to the highly-anticipated event are R50 per person. In a statement, the organisation says they aim to place a sequinned heel on the field at A-Track stadium. For this to happen they have to obtain R20 million in public liability to ensure they comply with the new Cape Town By-laws.

“Once we have done that we can place said heel onto the field, we have to put the basics into place like; security, fencing and cleaning which comes in at about R77 000.”

“Think of your R50 as partying and celebrating with a conscious. [The event] is for everyone and together we can make a more diverse and inclusive LGBTQI+ community in Cape Town,” concludes the organisation.
