Can you think of anything more paralyzing than fear? Do you want to know how to get rid of it? Here’s how!

A few years ago, I was trying to process several overwhelming circumstances, and gradually a  subconscious fear rose in me as I felt out of control. The Lord often speaks to me through dreams, and this one finally set me free:

In the dream, I was lying flat on my back on a flimsy black mat. There was an electromagnetic force keeping me pinned to the mat and I lay there completely paralyzed. I saw someone I recognized as a “good Father” in the distance and called to him for help.

Jesus came over and touched my hand, and  as he did that, the powerful force subsided, and He pulled me to my feet. Holding my hand, He  looked into my eyes and said: “The name of the mat is FEAR”. From then on, that paralyzing fear that had gripped me for so long, had gone!

14 For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. 15 The  Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you  received brought about your adoption to sonship.[a] And by him we cry, “Abba,[b]Father.”

Romans 8:14-15 (NIV)

God longs to speak to each of us – through His word, song, prayer, dreams etc. Sometimes He repeats things so we know we must take note. Once His rhema/alive word grips hold of your heart, it changes you forever.

God used the above scripture, the dream, and the anointed song “I am no longer a slave to fear, I am  a child of God” (by Jonathan David Helser) to set me free!

These truths became my lifeline back to healthy thinking, working powerfully together to bring about the deep peace needed.

I am a child of God! I get to call him “Abba” – my beloved Father! If God be for me, who can be against me! He says repeatedly in His word: “Do not fear”!

Truly knowing (and believing) that you are His child, makes all the difference. You can relax and let go! God himself is holding you in the palm of His hand.

If a good earthly father lovingly takes care of his children, how much more will your perfect Heavenly  Father (see Matthew 7:11).

1 But now, this is what the LORD says– he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you,  O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. 2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not  sweep over you.

Isaiah 43 1-2

The maker of heaven and earth, the one who sees and knows all, loves you with an everlasting, perfect love.

He knows your needs and He knows how to provide for you.

He knows your enemy and He knows how to protect you.

Just keep focusing on Him. Keep turning to His word and to prayer.

Break bread regularly in remembrance of who He is, and what He has done.

Come before Him with humility, repentance, and thanksgiving – allowing your heart to overflow with worship. For He is worthy!

Oh Lord, how can I ever thank you enough for adopting me as your child and making me your very  own.

Because of Jesus, I have been grafted into the vine and you are the tender gardener of my soul. You alone are a perfect Father, and your love sets my heart free. I can rest in You. I love you God.
