The Sword in the Armor of God is the most dangerous weapon in the whole of creation, and He has given it to you. Will you learn to use it?

Jesus Himself IS the Word of God! Did you know?
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. It is in Christ (the WORD) that our hope and our future is found!”
John 1:1 (NIV)
“12 It is not up in heaven, so that you have to ask, “Who will ascend into heaven to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?” 13Nor is it beyond the sea, so that you have to ask, “Who will cross the sea to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?”14No, the word is very near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart so you may obey it.”
Deuteronomy 30:12-14 (NIV)
His power is already alive within you through the Holy Spirit, to make you whole and complete lacking nothing (James 1:4), but we need to plant the seed of His word in our hearts to cultivate good fruit, ensuring that the soil of our heart is fertile to receive it through faith and obedience.
If you want a productive, prosperous, grace-filled life, allow His word to change your heart and guide and direct your choices, for His Word is a lamp for your feet, and a light to your path (Psalm 119:105). As we partake of His Word, we take on the mind of Christ, becoming life and resurrection power to us.
There have been countless times in my life, where His rhema Word has illuminated my path, bringing light in the darkness of overwhelming circumstances and wrong choices. But God is faithful! He acts on His Word to perform it (Jeremiah 1:12). He promised that His word will not return void but will accomplish that for which it was sent (Isaiah 55:11).
“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints, and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”
Hebrews 4:12 (NIV)
In his analogy of the armor of God, Paul compared the Sword of the Spirit to the Word of God.
It is sharp on both sides, cutting in any direction. On one hand, it penetrates our hearts as it goes in, cutting through habits, biases, preconceptions, and doubts, speaking to our innermost parts, bringing about a desire to repent, dividing between truth and error, edifying, instructing, and inspiring us.
On the other hand, it enables us to overcome, changing our hearts and minds as it comes out of our mouths.
“They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony”
Revelation 12:11 (NIV)
As we apply it to our lives and share it with others, the Word becomes quick and powerful, lively and active, piercing the darkness with His marvellous light.
With all that is going on in the world today, people are desperate for truth. God’s Word is the only real, eternal truth. It has stood the test of time over centuries – the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8).
People are perishing for lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6). The world around us is desperate for the light of His Word stored in our hearts:
“The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few”.
Luke 10:2 (NIV)
God’s angels are eagerly awaiting His bidding to act on His Word as we declare it out loud (either through our testimony or in prayer). As we wield His Sword, no weapon formed against us will prosper (Isaiah 54:17).
Let us therefore stand our ground against the enemy of our souls by reading, memorising, and meditating on the Word daily, so that it becomes embedded in our hearts as part of our arsenal against darkness and despair.
Let us allow His Word to become our offensive weapon, so that we are healed, restored, redeemed, and delivered.
Abba, we believe that the same resurrection power that raised Jesus from the dead is alive right inside of us through your Holy Spirit!
Help us tap into that power by fully embracing and obeying your Word! We want the victory that is ours in Christ. Remind us daily to take up your two-edged Sword we pray. In Jesus name,
Amen
