‘NQABA YAM’

In her 12-track album, Zahara encourages listeners to embrace what fulfills you, and says that’s how she has been managing her emotions. Nqaba Yam directly translates to “endure”.

Zahara has been through a lot in the past few years and focuses her writing on her life story. She describes herself as a poet.

“You must check how I’ve been trashed on social media and the papers, There’s nobody who has not suffered from depression or mental illness. But it depends how you channel it. I channel how I feel onto paper”.

INSIDE ‘NQABA YAM’

The album opens with a powerful track titled Nqaba Yam. The track hits right in the soul and is easily one of the album’s strongest ballads.

Nqaba Yam was the second single release, after Nyamezela earlier this year.

Zahara told Apple Music that before her sister passed away in March this year, Sinda Mphefumelo was her favourite song from the album.

“Sinda Mphefumlo is all about ‘You can take anything away from me, my clothes and everything, and leave me naked, you can put me to the ground, but as long as the Lord or whoever is inqaba yam—my anchor—will preserve my soul.”

Izolo is currently the lead sigle for Nqaba Yam and explores the ups and downs of a relationship.
