WHY IS TOM CRUISE IN SOUTH AFRICA?

Tom Cruise is in Mzansi to shoot the eighth instalment of the Mission: Impossible film series. A source told the Weekend Argus that the production team will be filming in Durban and Cape Town.

“We are set to be in Durban for three months as from 6 February for Mission Impossible and possibly a week in Cape Town,” said the source.

The film, that sees Tom Cruise take on the role of Ethan Hunt, was delayed several times due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mission: Impossible 7 and 8 will be the final movies in the series for Tom Cruise.

TOM CRUISE SPOTTED IN HOEDSPRUIT

After Tom Cruise was spotted flying in a helicopter over Oribi Gorge in KwaZulu-Natal, Gillian Leigh Soames spotted him in Hoedspruit, Limpopo.

Soames, who works remotely as an insurance broker, told Jacaranda FM that when she spotted the 59-year-old actor’s helicopter, she jumped onto her desk and lifted her shirt…but quickly explained that she kept her bra on.

“I was shouting: ‘Hello Thomas! Hello Thomas!’ just joking. And the chopper’s lights flashed back. From there it gained momentum.”

Soames added that Cruise acknowledged her.

“When he arrived back at his helipad, when he landed, of course his security contingent was there. I asked permission if I can stand and take a couple of photos and he said: ‘With absolute pleasure, just stay behind the line’.”

“He came past in his security vehicle and he waved. It was wonderful.”
