‘WINNING TIME: THE RISE OF THE LAKERS DYNASTY’

Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty is amongst Rotten Tomatoes’ Most Anticipated Series of 2022. The HBO sports drama dramatises the professional and personal lives of the players and coaches of a team that defined an American era both on and off the basketball court, the Los Angeles Lakers. 

The series stars the likes of Quincy Isaiah, Solomon Hughes, Kareen Abdul-Jabbar and DeVaughn Nixon who plays his real-life father, Stormin’ Norman Nixon.

‘PEACEMAKER’

Created by award-winning showrunner James Gunn, Peacemaker picks up where The Suicide Squad movie left off, with Peacemaker returning home after recovering from his encounter with Bloodsport – only to discover that freedom comes at a price. 

The eight-part series stars John Cena, Danielle Brooks, Chukwui Iwuji, Freddie Stroma, Robert Patrick and Jennifer Holland.

‘STATION ELEVEN’

Based on Emily St John Mandel’s award-winning 2014 novel, Station Eleven follows scattered survivors of a devastating global pandemic as they attempt to rebuild the world and hold onto the best of what’s been lost. 

Created by Patrick Somerville, the series stars the likes of Kirsten Raymonde, Mackenzie Davis, Himesh Patel and Lori Petty.

‘WESTWORLD’ SEASON FOUR’

The eight-part fourth season of Westworld brings back Thandiwe Newton, Evan Rachel Wood, Jeffrey Wright and Ed Harris in their Emmy-nominated roles. Oscar-winning actress Ariana DeBose will appear in the series as a recurring guest star.

Inspired by the film written by Michael Crichton, Westworld has won seven Emmys and received 45 nominations. 

Westworld is set to premiere on Showmax on 27 June with episodes released every week.

‘MY BRILLIANT FRIEND: THOSE WHO LEAVE AND THOSE WHO STAY’ SEASON 3

The Italian drama series, My Brillant Friend returns for a third season which picks up with Lila raising her young son alone and working in a factory under tough conditions while Elena has authored a successful novel. 

As they navigate life’s hopes and uncertainties, Elena and Lila remain united by their ambivalent yet undeniable bond.

‘UPRISING’

From Oscar-winning filmmaker Sir Steve McQueen and BAFTA nominee James Rogan, Uprising is a three-part miniseries that tells the extraordinary story of three intertwined events from 1981: the New Cross Fire, the Black People’s Day of Action and the Brixton riots.

‘MAYANS MC’ SEASON 4

A spin-off of the biker gang drama Sons of Anarchy, Mayans MC season four brings the threat of all-out war after the failed attempt to join the charters under a single king. 

The returning cast includes Emmy nominee Richard Cabral, Clayton Cadenas, Luisa “Adelita” Espina, Sarah Bolger and Raoul Max Trujillo. 

The series is available to binge on Showmax from 15 June.

Devils is an adaptation of the bestselling book by Italian trader Guido Maria Berea, a look at the world of millionaire investment bankers. The series is centered around a fearless Italian investment banker and his former mentor as they aim to profit from the Brexit fallout.

‘SHINING VALE’

In Shining Vale, a dysfunctional family moves into a new house in a small town, not realising the house has a terrible history. The series, created by Emmy-nominated writer Sharon Horgan, stars Courtney Cox, Greg Kinnear and four-time Emmy nominee Judith Light.

‘SUPERSTORE’ SEASON 6

The Cloud 9 staff are panic buying and being considered pandemic heroes as Superstore launches into its final season and crosses the 100-episode mark. 

All our favourites are back, America Ferrera, Ben Feldman, Mark McKinney, Colton Dunn, Kaliko Kauahi and Nichole Sakura. The 15-episode season 6 scored a 93% critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
