Sun City Resort has reopened its Valley of Waves for day visitors looking to soak up the last rays of summer.

This only includes midweek sales which stems from Monday to Friday, starting 8 March 2021.

What to do as a day visitor

There is so much to see and do as a day visitor, from discovering the thrills at the Valley of Waves to getting lost in the Maze of the Lost City. Adrenaline junkies can also enjoy Sun City’s two slides – the Tarantula and the Scorpion, and two tube rides – the Viper and the Mamba. The legendary Roaring Lagoon at the Valley of Waves is considered to be ‘the undisputed main attraction’ at Sun City’s famous water park where bender waves rise two metres in the air every 90 seconds.

Day visitors can also get a chimp’s-eye view of the Valley of Waves and take a swing at the Chimp and Zee Rope Adventure Park course.  Alternatively, just laze on a sun lounger under a palm tree.

According to a press release, capacity is restricted due to COVID-19 regulations therefore, a limited amount of tickets are available via online purchase only. No tickets will be sold at the resort’s gate.

Ticket details

Tickets range from R290 per child (aged 3 to 12 years old) and R395 per adult. Tickets include entry to Sun City, entry to the Valley of Waves and an R80 meal voucher. To purchase tickets, visit ticketpros.co.za.

A new water park in Cape Town

While Valley of Waves is busy planning its reopening, residents living near Cape Town are looking forward to Ratanga Junction being turned into a water park.

In January 2021, the Rabie Property Group revealed more about its plans to rejuvenate the location, ensuring that the Century City-based plot will once again draw visitors back in their droves. According to the developers, the site formerly known as Ratanga Junction will now boast an ‘extensive water body and public park’ – consisting of the following features:

  • A wildlife habitat for birds
  • At least one large water source.
  • Public park developments, such as ‘green trails’ and scenic walks.
  • Rowing boats.
  • Passenger excursions on the canal.
  • AND FINALLY… There’s even a chance that you’ll get to surf on these soon-to-be installed waters.
