Trevor Noah scores record number of Emmy nods for ‘The Daily Show’

Since Trevor Noah joined ‘The Daily Show’ in 2015, the talk show has received a record number of Emmy nominations under him.

South African-born comedian and television host Trevor Noah has had an exceptional year so far. From hosting the Grammy Awards two years in a row to receiving a series of nominations for The Daily Show with Trevor Noah

The nominees for the 2022 Primetime Emmy Awards were announced on Tuesday 12 July and Mzansi’s very own scored seven nominations for the much-loved late-night talk show. According to Deadline, The Daily Show has picked up a record number of nominations since Trevor Noah took over from Jon Stewart in September 2015.

‘THE DAILY SHOW WITH TREVOR NOAH’ SCORES SEVEN EMMY NODS 

The Daily Show with Trevor Noah is nominated for Outstanding Variety Talk Series for the 2022 Primetime Emmy Awards alongside The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, Jimmy Kimmel Live! And Late Night with Seth Meyers

Deadline reports that The Daily Show’s Outstanding Variety Talk Series nomination marks the fifth consecutive nod in the category. 

The late-night talk show also scored nods in the Outstanding Picture Editing for Variety Programming, Outstanding Technical Direction, Camerawork, Video Control For a Series and Outstanding Writing for a Variety series categories. 

TREVOR CELEBRATES NOMINATIONS 

Taking to Twitter on 12 July, Trevor Noah thanked The Daily Show team for their efforts on the show. 

“A big congrats to The Daily Show team and to Chris McCarthy and the whole Viacom/Comedy Central fam! I told you we work well together!”

In another tweet, Noah said: “A sincere thank you to everyone that tunes in and watches the show”!

‘THE DAILY SHOW’ SHINES BRIGHT! 

Since joining The Daily Show seven years ago, Trevor Noah has been instrumental in the talk show landing the most Emmy nominations its ever received. 

Speaking to Deadline, American comedian Desi Lydic, said being on The Daily Show continues to be a dream come true. 

“I’m eternally grateful to Comedy Central for and to Trevor Noah and Jen Flanz and the entire TDS team who do the real work of watching an inhumane amount of Fox News to produce this series,” added Lydic.
