Scottish actor Gerard Butler is set to play a hitman named Bob Viddick in the action thriller Copshop releasing on 17 September.

Gerard Butler has been signing in for role after role. Starting from the announcement of another Fallen movie, to a Greenaland sequel, The Plane and now Copshop.

WHAT IS ‘COPSHOP’ ABOUT?

According to Urban Dictionary, a “copshop” is a slang term for a police station which is where the main characters of the film find themselves.

Copshop follows a sharp-witted con artist who is on the run from a lethal assassin. He then devises a scheme to hide out in a small town police station, where hitman – Bob Viddick, played by Gerard Butler turns up at the precinct and an unsuspecting rookie cop finds herself caught in the crosshairs.

“Screaming through the Nevada desert in a bullet-ridden Crown Vic, wily con artist Teddy Murretto (Frank Grillo) hatches a desperate plan to hide out from lethal hitman Bob Viddick (Gerard Butler): He sucker-punches rookie officer Valerie Young (Alexis Louder) to get himself arrested and locked up in a small-town police station,” reads the film’s synopsis according to Open Road Films.

“But jail can’t protect Murretto for long. Viddick schemes his own way into detention, biding his time in a nearby cell until he can complete his mission. When the arrival of a competing assassin (Toby Huss) ignites all-out mayhem, mounting threats force Viddick to get creative if he wants to finish the job and escape the explosive situation,” continues the synopsis.
