Season five of The Crown will be coming to Netflix on 9 November this year. Here are five shows to stream while you wait for the fifth season of the hit series.

‘THE CROWN’ SEASON FIVE 

Netflix announced that The Crown season five will be released on 9 November.

British journalist Omid Scobbie shared a first look at the upcoming season. According to Scobbie, season five will focus on King Charles III affair with the now Queen Consort Camilla Parker Bowles, and the treatment of Princess Diana. Take a look..

There’s still a month until the big release. So, here are five shows you can stream until then.

1. ‘DOWNTON ABBEY’ 

Period piece Downton Abbey follows the lives of the Crawleys. The Crawleys is the aristocratic family who lives in Downton Abbey. You can stream the series on Showmax.

“Robert Crawley risks losing the family estate after his heirs die on the Titanic. Soon, the Crawleys are introduced to Matthew, the next heir in line, who resists the aristocratic way of life,” reads the synopsis of the show’s series.

2. ‘BRIDGERTON’

Bridgerton is one of the most popular series on Netflix. The first season of the period drama followed the Bridgertons’ eldest daughter Daphne’s (Phoebe Dynevor) search for a husband. Her unexpected connection with the Duke of Hastings, Simon Basset (Regé-Jean Page) had captured the hearts of millions.

The second season shifted focus to Daphne’s older brother Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) and his unexpected connection with Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley) after courting her sister. The season ended with Kate and Anthony passionately kissing and many want to know what happens next for the pair. Season one and two is available for streaming on Netflix.

The third season of the hit series will focus on the love story of Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton).

3. SIMILAR TO ‘THE CROWN’:‘VICTORIA’ 

Victoria dives deep into the Queen’s reign. The series focuses on Queen Victoria, who was the last queen to reign before Queen Elizabeth II. Jenna Coleman plays the role of Victoria.

4. SIMILAR TO ‘THE CROWN’: ‘THE ROYAL HOUSE OF WINDSOR’ 

The Royal House of Windsor was released in 2017. The six-part docuseries marked 100 years since the beginning of the House of Windsor — King George V (Elizabeth II’s grandfather) changed the family dynasty’s name to Windsor.

5. ‘THE GREAT’

The Great is a comedy drama starring Elle Fanning. Catherine the Great, Empress of Russia, is the centre of the series as she plots to overthrow her husband Peter III (Nicholas Hoult). You can stream the series on Hulu.

“A young Catherine the Great comes to Russia to get married to Peter III of Russia but finds herself embroiled in a world of dogmatic beliefs and customs, which she tries to alter,” reads the synopsis.
