The South African State Theatre’s artistic director, Aubrey Sekhabi told SowetanLive that the theatre’s partnership with Ster Kinekor will “change the performing arts game” in South Africa.

“Importantly, this collaboration gives us hope for the revival and future of theatre. Now you can access theatre in various parts of our country.”

Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Motheo Matsau added: “This will provide the rest of the country an opportunity to watch the State Theatre’s productions they may not have ordinarily had the chance to see in the theatre itself.”

Silent Voice, written and directed by Aubrey Sekhabi, is a gripping story about four men who are on the run after a botched robbery that turns into murder. As their plans start to unravel, the audience is let into the midst of the action as they become pawns in a high-stakes fight for survival.

The theatre production is jam-packed with meaningful and realistic commentary about life in modern-day South Africa. Silent Voice is one of Sekhabi’s early works and was devised in 1992.

Star actors Presley Csweneyage, Boitumelo Shisana wa Sekgobela, Zenzo Ngqobe and Tumelo “Don” Mosenye are featured in Silent Voice
