It’s the Easter holidays, which means you need to keep the kids entertained. Take a look at the 10 of the best films and series from Showmax for the kids to keep busy with.

1. ‘SANTIAGO OF THE SEAS’ SEASON ONE 

Santiago, an eight-year-old pirate, takes on the high seas with his crew, embarking on rescues, discovering hidden treasures and keeping the Caribbean safe. Santiago of the Seas is recommended for children ages four and up. The series won a Woman’s Image Network Award for Outstanding Animated Program in 2021.

2. ‘MUSH-MUSH AND THE MUSHABLES’ SEASON ONE 

Mush-Mush and the Mushables put the “fun” back into “fungi”. These tiny guardians of the forest go on adventures in the wondrous and wild world of nature. The series was nominated for a 2021 Kids Animation Emmy and received an 8.5/10 score on IMDb. The series is recommended for children ages four and up.

3. ‘MIA’S MAGIC PLAYGROUND’ SEASON ONE 

Mia, Tlide and Oskar go on a series of adventures in Mia’s Magic Playground. This colourful show teaches creative problem solving and social-emotional skills. The series is recommended for children ages four and up.

4. ‘ARCHIBALD’S NEXT BIG THING IS HERE’ SEASON ONE 

Archibald’s Next Big Thing Is Here follows the adventures of Archibald Strutter, a happy-go-lucky chicken who improvises his way through life but always finds his way home to his three siblings and trusty sidekick. 

The series is narrated by Oscar-nominated actress, Rosmund Pike. Archibald’s Next Big Thing Is Here is recommended for children ages five and up.

5. ‘TOM & JERRY: THE MOVIE’

Our favourite cat and mouse are back in Tom & Jerry: The Movie! In the movie, Jerry moves into New York’s finest hotel on the eve of the wedding of the century, forcing desperate event planner Kayla to hire Tom to get rid of the intruder. Their cat-and-mouse battle threatens to destroy Kayla’s career, the wedding and possibly the hotel.

6. ‘DANGER FORCE’

Danger Force is a Henry Danger spin-off, that sees Captain Man and Schwoz create a fake school to train a new crew of superhero sidekicks to harness their superpowers and fight crime. This exciting series is recommended for children ages seven and up.

7. ‘IT’S PONY’ SEASON ONE 

In this exciting series, a normal girl’s life is changed by her best friend – an unpredictable, outrageous and hilarious talking pony. No matter the complications, that Pony causes, Annie knows everything is better when he’s around. 

It’s Pony is recommended for children ages seven and up.

Lincoln Loud and his right-hand man Clyde try to navigate life with Lincoln’s 10 sisters. Life is definitely loud in The Loud House! This series is recommended for children ages eight and up.

9. ‘THE WITCHES’

The Witches adapted by Robert Zemeckis follows a young boy and his grandmother who go up against a coven of witches and their leader. The series stars Oscar-winning actresses Anne Hathaway and Octavia Spencer, Oscar-nominated comedian Chris Rock and newcomer, Jahzir Kadeem. 

This series is recommended for children ages 10 and up.

10. ‘ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK’

In season two of Are You Afraid of the Dark? the Midnight Society returns with new storytellers and a new tale about a cursed seaside town that’s being haunted by a mysterious figure…The cast of season two includes Bryce Gheisar, Malia Baker, Beatrice Kitsos and Miranda Edwards.

This series is recommended for children ages 11 and up.
